Domain Name

Your domain name is your address on the internet. It's often the first thing people see, and it affects your brand perception and SEO. Changing it later is a hassle, so it's worth getting it right the first time. Here are 5 tips to help you choose.

1. Keep it Short and Simple

The shorter, the better. Avoid long, complicated names that are hard to spell or remember. If you have to spell it out over the phone ("that's 'ph' as in phone, not 'f'"), it's probably too complex.

2. Use .com (or your local extension)

While there are hundreds of new extensions (.agency, .pizza, .guru), `.com` is still the king. It's what people assume by default. If you are a local business, use your country's extension (e.g., `.hu` for Hungary, `.co.uk` for UK). It builds local trust.

3. Avoid Hyphens and Numbers

Hyphens are often a sign of spammy domains, and they are easily forgotten. Numbers are confusing: is it "5" or "five"? Stick to letters only.

4. Make it Brandable

A brandable name is unique and memorable (like Google, Amazon, Yahoo). A generic name (like "best-cheap-shoes.com") is forgettable and limits your growth. Don't just stuff keywords; build a brand.

5. Check Availability (Social Media too!)

Before you fall in love with a name, check if the domain is available. But don't stop there! Check if the handle is available on Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn. You want a consistent identity across all platforms.

Tip: If your preferred .com is taken, try adding a relevant verb or noun (e.g., "get[name].com" or "[name]app.com") instead of misspelling the name.
